About Us
The Smilist Dental in Shelter Island includes a team of highly skilled Dentists, Periodontists, Pediatric Dentists and Orthodontists committed to meeting your dental needs under one roof. This office provides an extensive amount of services such as general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry , restorative dentistry, orthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Cosmetic Dentistry
We provide a number of cosmetic dentistry services so that you can achieve your aesthetic goals. Composite or Porcelain Veneers are thin tooth-colored shells that are custom made to fit over teeth to improve their color, shape, and overall appearance. We also offer in-office teeth whitening as well as at-home professional level teeth whitening.
Braces And Invisalign
Orthodontics will help you achieve your straightest smile by aligning your teeth. Metal braces are “traditional” braces where brackets are affixed to the teeth and wires are threaded through the brackets. Ceramic braces are clear or tooth-colored which makes them nearly invisible. Invisalign aligners are removable plastic-like trays that fit an individual’s teeth.
Cavity Fillings And Root Canals
Restorative dentistry is used to treat various dental issues and prevent further problems. Cavity fillings are when someone suffers from tooth decay and the doctor fills the area where the decay occurred to prevent the tooth from further decaying. A root canal procedure is done when a root canal is infected and is then replaced with an inert material.
Dental Implants, Crowns, Bridges & Dentures
Dental Implants permanently replace a missing tooth while looking, feeling and functioning like a normal tooth. Many patients wonder how much dental implants cost but the cost of a dental implant varies patient to patient. Crowns and bridges are also used to replace teeth. Often a bridge is comprised of two crowns that go over the adjacent teeth with the new prosthetic tooth in the middle, thus forming a “bridge.” Dentures are used to replace an abundance of missing teeth for people with no teeth. Dentures allow for the ability to chew and bite properly, and prevent a sagging facial appearance.
